Romania blows up Ukrainian Sea Baby maritime drone near Constanta
The Romanian Ministry of Defence reported on controlled detonation of the Ukrainian marine drone Sea Baby, which was drifting in the Black Sea near Constanta. The information was published on the official website of the agency.
The UAVs detected approximately 36 miles from the Romanian coast. After assessing the situation, he was classified as potential threat to shipping.
How the operation went
A group of divers was engaged in neutralising the attack.
After the Romanian Coast Guard applied and confirmed the risks, the military received permission to controlled detonation drone.
The Ministry noted that the operation was carried out in coordination with the maritime services and in accordance with international safety rules.
Context.
Sea Baby maritime drones are Ukrainian strike unmanned platforms that are actively used to target Russian ships and infrastructure in the Black Sea. Due to their combat use and long missions, some of the drones can get out of control and drift in neutral waters.
This is not the first time Romania has detected drone debris or elements in its waters due to its proximity to the combat zone.
