How the app works

According to the Ministry of Digital Transformation, citizens of Ukraine who have generators with a capacity of from 7.2 kW, can receive payment for connecting to the base stations of mobile operators.

The payment rate is from 110 to 140 UAH per hour of generator operation, depending on the power and duration of the connection.

The programme operates on the platform generator.thedigital.gov.ua, where you can register your device, check the available stations in your region and apply to participate.

Why it matters

The project aims to improve the stability of mobile communications during the long power outages in the autumn and winter period.

The Ministry of Digital Transformation notes that even a few hundred connected private generators will provide connectivity in critical regions, when the mains power is not available.

Economic feasibility

With current petrol and diesel prices, paying 110-140 UAH/hour can partially or fully cover fuel costs, depending on the efficiency of the generator.

In this way, owners can not only help to maintain the communication, but also receive compensation for electricity costs.
