EU steps up pressure on Russia

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that The 19th package of EU sanctions against Russia officially came into force in Ukraine today.
The sanctions were adopted in response to Russia's ongoing aggression against Ukraine.

«The package acts, in particular, against the export of Russian resources and schemes for the supply of electronic components to Russia. Its impact is estimated at at least tens of billions of euros in losses annually for the aggressor state,» Zelenskyy said.


New sanctions initiatives of the NSDC

The President also instructed NSDC to prepare new sanctions decisions, that will apply:

  • Russian propagandists,

  • of the military industry,

  • persons cooperating with the occupation authorities.


Context.

The European Union is systematically expanding sanctions pressure on Russia.
Previous, 18th package of sanctions, adopted in September 2025, included a ban on imports of diamonds and dual-use technology.
