82% of Ukrainians vs. 20% of VAT on international parcels - survey results
The overwhelming majority of Ukrainians do not support the idea of introducing a 20% value added tax on international postal items. This is evidenced by the results of a sociological survey.
According to the survey, 82% of respondents oppose of such a decision. At the same time, almost one in three Ukrainians has received parcels from abroad in the past year.
What do Ukrainians order?
In most cases, these are inexpensive shipments worth up to 100 euros.
Among those who received international parcels:
45% ordered clothes and shoes;
26% - power banks, batteries and chargers;
29% bought goods needed to overcome the consequences of the energy crisis.
Overall. 64% respondents call international parcels important in times of war.
Possible consequences of tax increases
The vast majority of respondents are convinced that the rise in international shipping prices could have negative consequences:
79% believe that this will harm volunteering and defence;
85% predict a negative impact of possible delays in parcels on the same areas.
Experts emphasise that the issue of taxation of international shipments remains sensitive in times of war, as a significant portion of humanitarian aid and essential goods is delivered through postal channels.

At the same time, the public reaction shows a high level of dependence of citizens and volunteers on affordable international parcels during the war.
