Sumy region under attack by Russian troops: Okhtyrka and Putivlska hromadas attacked
On the night of 26 January, Russian troops carried out another attack on the territory of Sumy region. The following came under attack Okhtyrka and Putivl community.
The shelling hit a residential area and an educational facility. The strikes caused fires, which were promptly extinguished by the State Emergency Service.

Rescuers worked at several locations. After the fire was extinguished, the areas were inspected for additional threats and damage. Information about the victims is being updated.
Context.
Russia continues systematic attacks on Ukraine's border regions, in particular Sumy region. The shelling of civilian and social infrastructure is part of a tactic to put pressure on civilians and attempt to destabilise the situation in the region.
