On the night of 10 October Russian troops have struck again in Zaporizhzhia. According to preliminary reports, a missile hit the residential sector of the city, causing a massive fire.
According to the regional military administration, a 7-year-old boy died, more three people sustained injuries of varying severity. Doctors are providing the victims with the necessary assistance.
Destruction and consequences
The blast wave damaged more than a dozen buildings, shattered windowpanes, and damaged balconies and roofs. Fires broke out in several buildings, which were extinguished by the State Emergency Service.
Gas leaks were reported in the city due to the destruction of gas networks. Utilities have temporarily cut off supplies in some areas to avoid the threat of explosions.
The city authorities called on Zaporizhzhia residents temporarily limit gas consumption, while repairs and testing of the networks continue.
Government response
Head of the DIA Ivan Fedorov said that the strike targeted residential areas without any military objectives.
«Russia is again deliberately targeting civilians. A 7-year-old child is among the dead. This is another proof of the terrorist nature of the Russian army's actions,» he said.
Rescuers continue to dismantle the rubble and check nearby buildings for explosives.
