Emergency power outages continue due to power shortage - Ukrenergo
In Ukraine, it is still impossible to cancel emergency power outages in most regions. This was reported in the Ukrenergo, explaining the situation by a shortage of capacity and significant damage to transmission and distribution networks.
Why outages persist
According to power engineers, nuclear generation is working, but it remains partially unloaded.
At the same time, the key problems are:
shortage of available capacity in the power system
destruction of the electricity transmission infrastructure
restrictions on the operation of distribution networks
These are the factors that prevent us from stabilising power supply and completely abandoning emergency schedules.
The situation in the regions
Due to the damage to networks caused by Russian attacks, most regions are forced to use emergency shutdowns to balance the power system.
The energy sector emphasises that infrastructure restoration is ongoing, but it will take time and additional resources.
Context.
Ukraine's energy system has been under systemic attack since the beginning of the full-scale war.
Even with stable operation of nuclear power plants, the key challenge remains delivery of electricity to consumers due to damaged networks.
