Drones attacked defence plants in Taganrog: manufacturer of components for combat drones under attack
Drones attacked a factory «Atlant Aero» in Taganrog, Rostov Region, Russia, and an aircraft repair plant Beriev Tanker Plant. This was reported by Russian and Ukrainian media, citing local sources.
Atlant Aero specialises in the development and production of components for combat drones. In particular, the plant is involved in the development of Orion UAVs and FPV drones, and also manufactures them:
elements of control systems;
components for attack drones;
components of electronic warfare (EW) systems.
The Beriev Aircraft Repair Plant is one of the key enterprises of the Russian aviation industry, repairing and modernising special purpose aircraft.
Information on the extent of the damage and possible production stoppage is being clarified. Russian authorities traditionally limit themselves to short messages without detailing the consequences.
Context.
In recent months, attacks on military-industrial infrastructure in Russia have become a regular occurrence. The attacks are increasingly targeting factories that produce drones, missiles, electronic warfare systems and components for the army.
These strikes are aimed at weakening the production capacity of the Russian military-industrial complex, complicating logistics and slowing down the supply of weapons for the war against Ukraine.
Against the backdrop of the ongoing war, sanctions pressure and a shortage of high-tech components, any damage to critical production facilities could have long-term consequences for the Russian defence industry and its ability to maintain the intensity of hostilities.
