Britain ready to send troops to Ukraine after ceasefire - Bloomberg

According to Bloomberg, The United Kingdom has declared its readiness to send troops to Ukraine as soon as a ceasefire is reached. London has already identified specific troops and prepared detailed plans for their deployment as part of the international effort to ensure stability.

Britain, along with France, leads the so-called «The Coalition of the Ready» - a group of countries that will be able to quickly provide security support to Ukraine after the cessation of hostilities.

Details of the UK plan

The British plan has several key components:

  • Establishment of a coordination centre in Kyiv, who will be responsible for planning, security operations and liaison with Ukrainian structures.
  • Training of Ukrainian forces on the territory of Ukraine, This will significantly accelerate the training of units and their adaptation to NATO standards.
  • Expansion of the Black Sea Group, which will ensure safe navigation and monitoring in the region, including escorting commercial vessels.

The first phase of the programme is evaluated in over £100 million, and funding is already provided for in the British defence budget.

Context.

London's statement came amid renewed talks between the United States and its allies on the future security architecture for Ukraine. The UK has traditionally been one of Kyiv's most active partners, and its involvement in post-war stability is seen as a key part of a broader European initiative.

The UK's plans are in line with the general logic of the West's efforts to create a long-term mechanism to support Ukraine after the ceasefire.
