Buildings with electric heating in Kyiv are classified as critical infrastructure
Buildings with electric heating in Kyiv officially were classified as critical infrastructure facilities. The relevant decision has already been made, and in the near future these houses will be will not be subject to power outages, except in emergency situations.
This was announced by the Minister of Energy of Ukraine.
What will change for residents
According to the head of the Ministry of Energy, the decision is aimed at protecting the residents of the capital in the winter and increased load on the power system.
After the decision comes into force, houses with electric heating will be allowed to be built:
will not be included in the planned outage schedules;
will receive priority in electricity supply;
may only be de-energised if accidents or threats to network security.
Reasons for the decision
The Ministry of Energy notes that in the context of Russia's massive attacks on energy infrastructure and low temperatures, electric heating for thousands of Kyiv residents is the only source of heat.
The solution is designed to reduce the risks of overcooling in housing and humanitarian consequences in the capital.

Kyiv, like other major cities in Ukraine, is under constant threat of attacks on the energy system. The government and energy services are implementing additional mechanisms to protect critical facilities and residential infrastructure to ensure a stable heating season.
