Chernihiv became the first city to launch an AI video surveillance system - police

The following has been officially launched in Ukraine artificially intelligent video surveillance system, It was first introduced in Chernihiv. This was reported in the To the National Police of Ukraine.

What's already working

As part of the system launch in the region:

  • established 400 new cameras, that are able to recognise faces and cars in real time;

  • the total number of cameras increased to 1,500;

  • secured round-the-clock monitoring 24/7, which allows the police and emergency services to quickly monitor the situation on the streets.

How it works

The system combines video streams from city cameras into a single surveillance centre, where AI algorithms analyse the data and help law enforcement officers respond more quickly to incidents and search for people and vehicles.

Context.

The introduction of intelligent video surveillance systems is part of the broader digitalisation of security in Ukraine, especially in the context of military risks and the increased need for rapid response.
