Social Policy Committee approves draft law on child benefits for second reading
New social initiatives
Verkhovna Rada Committee on Social Policy Approved the draft law on child benefits, which provides for a significant increase in financial support for Ukrainian families. This was announced by MP Alexey Goncharenko.
Document prepared for the second reading, and will soon be submitted to the Parliament for consideration.
Main provisions of the draft law
According to the updated version, it is expected:
50 000 UAH - one-time childbirth allowance;
7000 UAH - monthly childcare allowance for a child under 1 year of age;
8000 UAH - childcare allowance for children aged 1 to 3 years if the parents have returned to work.
When the law comes into force
Once adopted by the Verkhovna Rada and signed by the President, the law will come into force from 1 January 2026.
The payments will also apply to children who are under the age of 1 at the time, even if they were born before that date.
Social significance
The initiative aims to support for the birth rate and Reducing the financial burden on young families. According to the deputies, the law should become part of a comprehensive programme for Ukraine's demographic recovery after the war.
