Ukraine accelerates construction of engineering protection around energy and transport facilities
Vice Prime Minister for Reconstruction of Ukraine Oleksiy Kuleba said that the government had decided to create a Coordination Headquarters for Energy Protection - a single control centre that will unite the work of all structures responsible for energy, transport, water, heat and communications.
According to Kuleba, the headquarters will include representatives of Ministry of Energy, Ukrenergo, Naftogaz, Ministry of Internal Affairs, State Emergency Service, regional administrations and infrastructure operators. Its main task is to accelerate the construction and strengthening of critical infrastructure facilities ahead of the winter period.
«Despite the limited budgets, timeframes and constant attacks, the work is ongoing and uninterrupted. Our main decisions today are to accelerate the construction of engineering defences around energy, transport and life support facilities», - said Kuleba.
The official added that control over the quality and safety of work is maintained, but the procedural part - from approval to conclusion of contracts - will be much shorter, which will allow promptly start construction and repairs.
