Who is entitled to compensation
Compensation is paid to MPs who do not have housing in Kyiv or the nearest suburbs.
It is paid from state budget and covers the cost of renting an apartment or hotel room.
According to experts, such assistance costs taxpayers over UAH 2 million per month.
Public reaction
The issue of MPs' compensation regularly causes a public outcry, as some MPs, despite their high incomes, continue to receive state aid.
Activists are calling for these payments to be made more transparent and limited to those who really need housing.
