Occupation authorities in Donetsk region declare state of emergency due to strikes on Zuivska and Starobeshevska TPPs
Russian-controlled occupation administrations in Donetsk region have announced state of emergency after a series of strikes on Zuivskyi and Starobeshevskaya thermal power plants. This was reported by the Russian media.
Due to the large-scale damage to the infrastructure, there was a full or partial loss of power supply in most settlements of the occupied part of the region.
Consequences.
According to the occupation authorities:
the boiler house was shut down,
water treatment plants have stopped working,
about 500 thousand people were left without electricity, heat and water, which is 65% residents of the temporarily occupied Donetsk region.
Local «administrations» claim a «critical situation» with utility systems and are trying to set up temporary charging and water points.
Context.
Zuivska and Starobeshevska TPPs are key nodes in the power system of the occupied part of Donetsk region. Since the outbreak of full-scale war, they have been repeatedly used by the Russian military to supply their needs and military facilities, making the plants strategic targets.
The disruption of power supply in the TOT traditionally causes a sharp degradation of the housing and communal services systems, as most boiler houses and water plants are completely dependent on electricity.
