
FPV drones are «the best weapon for criminals»: the Rada is preparing strict regulation of UAVs
Ukraine wants to introduce comprehensive state regulation of the use of unmanned aerial vehicles. This was stated by Ivan Vygovsky, emphasising that FPV drones are now «the best weapon for criminals», Therefore, the issue requires immediate legislative regulation.
Details of the initiative
According to the chairman National Police of Ukraine, The availability and technical capabilities of FPV drones pose serious risks to public safety, as they are increasingly likely to be used for illegal purposes.
Committee Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine already approved the relevant draft law and recommends its adoption in the first reading.
What the draft law proposes
The document provides for:
mandatory registration of all unmanned aerial vehicles;
entering drones into the State Register of Aircraft;
registration of UAVs in the units of the National Police;
identification of drone users;
introduction of clear flight rules;
availability of documents granting the right to perform flights.

Recently, the issue of controlling civilian drones has been raised more and more frequently amid growing use of them not only for commercial and volunteer purposes, but also in the criminal environment. Law enforcement officials emphasise that legislative regulation should reduce the risks of abuse and increase the level of security in Ukraine's airspace.
