Klitschko: Kyiv was made to understand that the state will not help

Mayor of the capital Vitali Klitschko said that at the meeting of the National Security and Defence Council, Ukraine was actually made clear that no state aid was foreseen for Kyiv.

What happened

According to Klitschko, the government did not include the energy sustainability plan to the general budget for assistance to cities.

The mayor stressed that Kyiv was the only city whose plan was not supported.

«We were made to understand that Kyiv will not be helped at this time,» Klitschko said.

The position of the mayor's office

The head of the capital stressed that the document was prepared by energy industry experts, and the proposals were submitted to the Ministry of Communities and Territories Development on time.

«The plan was developed with the participation of specialists and experts in the energy sector... But Kyiv is once again being treated with a “special” attitude. Again, politics is involved,» the mayor said.

A separate issue is the military administration

Klitschko also noted that the plans of other cities were signed by the heads of military administrations.

According to him, in the case of Kyiv, the head of the city's military administration removed himself from performing his duties.

Context.

The issue of energy resilience of cities remains critical ahead of the next heating season amid ongoing Russian attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure.
