Context.
The Emergency Assistance Treaty allowed the countries to mutually support their power systems in the event of an emergency. Such cooperation was important for the stability of the energy grids of both countries.
The cancellation of the agreement came amid a difficult situation in Ukraine's energy system due to Russian shelling and electricity shortages.
