Gas prices in Ukraine increased in 20% and reached their highest level for the year
Since the beginning of the week, natural gas prices in Ukraine have risen by about 20%, having reached UAH 27,800 per thousand cubic metres including VAT. This was reported by the analytical company ExPro.
According to analysts, these are the highest level of gas prices since June 2025.
What's happening in the market
The price increase was recorded in the domestic gas market of Ukraine amid increased demand and changes in the European energy markets.
Experts note that Ukrainian prices largely depend on the situation on the European gas hubs, where the cost of energy resources is also showing an upward trend.
Reasons for the rise in price
Among the factors that could have influenced the sharp rise in gas prices are:
Increased demand for energy resources;
the situation on the European gas market;
tensions in the Middle East, which affects energy markets.
Context.
Ukraine is gradually integrating its gas market with the European one, so price fluctuations in Europe are quickly reflected in the domestic cost of the resource.
Energy experts warn that the market may remain high volatility and sharp price fluctuations, especially against the backdrop of geopolitical instability.
