The Government has allocated UAH 12.85 billion for winterisation

Prime Minister Svyrydenko has announced that the government has allocated UAH 12.85 billion to prepare for the coming winter. The funding is aimed at protecting critical infrastructure in the frontline regions and Kyiv city.

Funds for the protection of energy facilities

The government has allocated 12.85 billion UAH to prepare for winter as part of the resilience plans. Of this amount, UAH 3.5 billion will be used to protect 24 high-voltage substations, which will be handled by the Restoration Agency.

Another UAH 9.4 billion will be allocated to the frontline regions and Kyiv Oblast. The funds will be used to build protective structures at infrastructure facilities and distribution substations.

Funding priorities

In total, the financing will cover 209 critical infrastructure facilities. Key areas of focus:

  • protection of energy facilities,
  • development of distributed generation,
  • Ensuring uninterrupted heat, water supply and sewerage,
  • decentralisation of the heat supply system in large cities.

Context.

The total funding requirement for winterisation is estimated at UAH 278 billion (EUR 5.4 billion). The government continues to work on attracting international financial assistance to cover this amount.
