
New EU sanctions against Russia
European Union adopted the 19th package of sanctions against the Russian Federation in response to its continued aggression against Ukraine.
This was reported by European media with reference to diplomatic sources in Brussels.
«Among the key restrictions is a complete ban on the provision of crypto services to individuals and legal entities with Russian citizenship or residence,» the report said.
Restrictions on cryptocurrencies
The new package of sanctions is actually completely blocks Russians' access to cryptocurrency exchanges and payment platforms within the EU.
The ban covers:
opening new crypto wallets and accounts;
exchange and storage of digital assets;
servicing transactions, even if the amounts are small.
The European Commission explained that this decision was taken to preventing the circumvention of financial sanctions through crypto tools.
Other restrictions
The new package has also been expanded:
list of sanctioned persons - It included several dozen other military officers, propagandists and businessmen;
trade restrictions - a ban on the import of certain dual-use technological components was added;
export control - is related to equipment for aviation and shipbuilding.

The previous, 18th EU sanctions package was adopted in July 2025 and included restrictions against Russian banks, defence companies and oil suppliers.
The 19th package was a continuation of the policy increased pressure on the Russian economy - especially in the areas of finance and technology.
