Novokuibyshevsk refinery in Samara region of Russia burns after drone attack

In Russian Samara region a fire broke out at the Novokuibyshevsky Oil Refinery (NOR) after a nighttime drone attack.
Local sources report Large-scale fire on the territory of the enterprise, which is part of the Rosneft system. Videos of a large column of smoke visible from several kilometres away were posted on social media.
According to preliminary data, the explosion occurred after a UAV hit the production shop.
The Novokuibyshevsk refinery is one of the largest in the Volga region, with a capacity of 8.8 million tonnes of oil per year. The company has already been attacked by drones several times since the beginning of 2024, which led to the shutdown of some production lines.
Fire brigades and the Russian Emergencies Ministry are working at the scene. Information about the victims is currently being clarified.
