According to the Obolon District State Administration, New radiation protection shelters are permanent structures of increased strength, The facilities are equipped with ventilation and air filtration systems, autonomous lighting and sanitary areas.
They are designed to long stay of people in case of chemical or radiation hazards.
«These shelters are not temporary or mobile. These are full-fledged protective structures that provide basic living conditions during threats,» the RSA said.
Who can use them
Each shelter is designed for from 25 to 50 people. They are placed in areas where there is no access to underground storage facilities or the metro, to ensure the protection of residents during possible emergencies.
Local authorities plan to continue the programme By the end of the year, more than 20 such shelters may appear in Kyiv.
