The Cabinet of Ministers allowed to buy gas canisters from the age of 18 without permits

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has adopted a resolution that greatly simplifies the purchase of gas canisters. From now on, they can be purchased from 18 years old without permits, certificates or registrations, and to carry, store and transport freely.

Gas pistols: new rules

• You can buy a gas pistol or revolver only with the permission of the police, which is issued if there is medical certificate and confirmation of training in the rules of conduct.

• After the purchase, you need to issue a separate Permit for storage and carrying.

• Permission to purchase is valid until 3 months, permit for possession and carrying 3 years.

• Homemade or numberless pistols are prohibited, You cannot pass them on to other people. Carrying or transporting them without a permit is grounds for seizure by the police.

• The permit will not be issued or cancelled in case of domestic violence, problems with the law, alcohol, drugs, criminal record, criminal suspicion or medical contraindications.

Use and control

• Gas agents are allowed to be used only for self-defence or protection against animals. Before use, it is advisable to warn the attacker if it is safe to do so.

• The use of gas pistols is prohibited in crowds, against children, the elderly, pregnant women and law enforcement officers, except as provided by law.

• Compliance with the rules is monitored by National Police, accounting is kept in Unified register of weapons of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
