Georgian President Giorgi Kavelashvili expressed support for Ukraine in his speech at the UN General Assembly.
He stressed that Georgia is well aware of the challenges faced by the Ukrainian people, as it was once subjected to Russian aggression.
«Georgia stands by Ukraine in its struggle for independence and sovereignty. We support the Ukrainian people and call on the international community to increase pressure on the aggressor,» Kavelashvili said.
The President also called on the UN countries to continue to assist Ukraine and stressed that without decisive action, Russia could continue to threaten other states.
Experts note that this statement is of great political importance, as it demonstrates the solidarity of states that have already experienced military intervention by Russia.
