Japan and Ireland announce new aid to Ukraine
The Government of Japan has decided to grant Ukraine $27 million in aid, aimed at strengthening civil protection and supporting internal security.
The distribution of funds will look like this:
$23 million - for equipment for the State Emergency Service, equipment for humanitarian demining and training programmes for Ukrainian sappers;
over $3 million - for specialised medical equipment for institutions within the MIA system.
The funds will help modernise the material and technical base of rescue services that deal with the consequences of Russian attacks on a daily basis.
Ireland allocates €125 million
At the same time, Ireland announced two separate packages:
€100 million - for non-lethal military assistance to Ukraine (protective equipment, equipment, logistics);
€25 million - to support the Ukrainian energy system, which is under constant Russian attack.
Dublin emphasises that these funds are aimed at strengthening Ukraine's winter resilience and ensuring vital services.
Context.
Japan and Ireland have consistently supported Ukraine since the first months of the full-scale war. The new packages come amid escalating Russian attacks on the energy sector and growing demining needs, which remain one of the biggest challenges of post-war reconstruction.
