Kilauea spews 370-metre lava fountain in rare three-channel eruption
A new phase of Kilauea volcano activity has been recorded in Hawaii: the lava fountain has risen by about 370 metres, setting one of the highest levels in recent years. This was reported by the US Geological Survey.
A unique event
This time the eruption occurred from three magma points simultaneously, which is an extremely rare occurrence even for one of the world's most active volcanoes.
The lava fountains formed powerful streams that spread over the surrounding area. The recorded glow was visible at a great distance.
Activity series
This is already 38th episode of Kilauea activity from December 2024. Experts attribute the frequent eruptions to changes in the movement of magma channels beneath the surface and increased pressure in the magma chamber.
Seismologists warn that the volcano may remain unstable, and further eruptions are not excluded.
