The Russian authorities are trying to introduce propaganda among Ukrainian children in the occupied territories.

GUR: Kremlin has developed a methodology for the ideological treatment of Ukrainian children

The Defence Intelligence of Ukraine reported that Russian propagandists have created a manual for the ideological treatment of Ukrainian youth, who live in the temporarily occupied territories.

The document is entitled «Preventing the spread of terrorism, extremism and neo-Nazi ideology» and is intended to “education” of children in the spirit of support for the Putin regime.

«These actions are part of the genocide of the Ukrainian people - propaganda among children is aimed at destroying national identity and forming a perverted picture of the world,» the DIU said.


What does the “methodology” contain”

The Russian “educators” received instructions:

  • identify children, who read international resources, are interested in Ukraine or post anti-Putin comments;

  • hold “educational conversations” with such teenagers to “correct” their position;

  • restrict access to alternative materials about history, particularly the Second World War;

  • to form a cult of “grandfathering” and justify Russia's aggression against Ukraine;

  • to impose loyalty to the Russian authorities through school classes, events and outreach programmes.


The goal is to destroy Ukrainian identity

The DIU emphasises that such actions by Russia are an element of the systemic policy of cultural genocide.
Through propaganda, the Kremlin seeks to to reprogramme Ukrainian children, The aim is to deprive them of their national identity and force them to identify with the “Russian world”.

«Such methods grossly violate the norms of international humanitarian law and the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child,» the agency stressed.
