Europe should learn from Kyiv
European countries should learn from Ukraine's experience in combating air attacks, because it is Ukraine's air defence system today demonstrates an effectiveness that no other state in the region has.
This was stated by the Member of the European Parliament, former Prime Minister of Lithuania Andrius Kubilius, commenting on the growing security risks for EU countries.
«We are not at war, but we are not at peace either. Russia's provocations can last for years. And it is Russia that is the source of the threat to Europe, not vice versa,» the politician stressed.
Ukraine as an example of resilience
Kubilius emphasised that Ukrainian air defence forces destroy about 80% enemy missiles and drones, protecting cities from massive attacks.
He noted that this experience should become a model for the whole of Europe, both technically and organisationally.
«To preserve peace, we must strengthen our defence - not only materially, but also politically. Russia's provocations are irresponsible and dangerous. Ukraine has shown how to act effectively when the enemy attacks every day,» Kubilius said.
The future of war is drones
The European politician also noted that The future of warfare will be determined by drones, And it is in this area that Ukraine is already ahead of many of its allies.
«Europe is not yet ready for such a future. We need to act practically and quickly, developing our own defence industry and a common air defence system,» he stressed.
Context.
Since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion, Ukraine has created a multi-level air defence system, which combines Western systems Patriot, IRIS-T, NASAMS, SAMP/T and Ukrainian developments.
As a result, we have been able to repel most Russian attacks on Kyiv, Dnipro, Kharkiv and the southern regions.
Analysts note that Ukrainian experience can become the basis for the formation of a European “air shield”, The European Union has a number of missile and drone defence systems that can protect the continent from potential missile or drone threats from Russia.
