Empty apartments to be transferred to IDPs: pilot launched in three oblasts
Ukraine plans to transfer housing that has been unoccupied for a long time to internally displaced persons.
As reported by the Ministry of Communities and Territories Development, we are talking about exclusively on state and municipal real estate, The government is not talking about private apartments.
Where the pilot was launched
The pilot project has already been launched in three regions:
Kyiv region
Ivano-Frankivsk region
Poltava region
If the initiative is successfully implemented, it is planned to scale to the whole territory of Ukraine.
What objects can be used
This includes not only apartments, but also other objects owned by the state or territorial communities:
empty residential buildings;
unused premises;
land plots and infrastructure facilities.
They are planned to transfer, re-equip or adapt to meet the needs of IDPs.

The problem of providing housing for internally displaced persons remains one of the key social challenges during a full-scale war.
According to government estimates, the use of existing state and municipal real estate could be a quick solution to accommodate thousands of families who have lost their homes.
