People's Deputy Alexey Goncharenko said. The heating season in Ukraine is under serious threat after Russia's recent massive strikes on energy facilities.

«The availability of heating this winter is a huge question mark. Almost the entire gas system was knocked out,» said Goncharenko.


Massive attacks on energy infrastructure

On the night of 22 October, Russian troops attacked combined attack with Shahed drones, ballistic and cruise missiles on critical energy facilities in several regions.
Under attack were CHP plants, gas distribution stations and underground storage facilities, that provide heat to millions of Ukrainians.

The energy sector reports serious damage to gas transmission and storage systems, including in the central and eastern regions.


The heating season is under threat

According to Goncharenko, Restoration of gas infrastructure may take a long time, The Russian attacks were targeted and well planned.
The MP stressed that Not only the comfort but also the safety of Ukrainians in winter is in question, especially in the frontline and northern regions.

«This is the most difficult winter we are approaching. We need to prepare for a scenario with interruptions in heat and electricity supply,» the MP added.


The government is preparing backup solutions

The Cabinet of Ministers is working on plan for the deployment of mobile boiler rooms, generator systems and heating points in critical regions.
The Ministry of Energy calls on citizens consume electricity economically і check autonomous heat sources, if possible.
