In Kyiv, man threatens neighbour with murder over noise complaints: police detain him with a gun

In the capital, law enforcement officers detained a 54-year-old Kyiv resident who threatened to kill his neighbour after she had reprimanded him for his noisy behaviour. The man was intoxicated and was drinking alcohol in the stairwell.

How it all happened

According to the police:

• a man was behaving loudly in the stairwell and disturbing his neighbours;

• A 57-year-old woman made a remark to him;

• In response, the offender went up to the apartment, took a machine gun from the Second World War and began threatening his neighbour with murder.

Law enforcement officers arrived quickly and detained the man and seized the weapon. Thanks to the quick response of the police, the woman was not injured, although she suffered severe psychological stress.

What liability will be incurred by the offender

Investigators opened criminal proceedings under the articles on threatening to kill and illegal handling of weapons. The man faces real punishment, including imprisonment.
