Men fall in love faster, women fall in love more strongly: study

Scientists have found that men fall in love faster and women experience feelings more deeply.

A new study Biology of Sex Differences showed differences in the way men and women fall in love and experience love. Men recognise their feelings earlier, but women feel them more intensely and think about their partner more often.

Differences in the speed and strength of falling in love

According to the study, men realise their love on average one month earlier than women. At the same time, it is women who feel love more intensely and remember their partner more often.

Scientists attribute this to biological and evolutionary reasons. For men, quick attachment was a way to demonstrate seriousness of intent in a competitive environment, while women are evolutionarily predisposed to choose a partner more carefully.

How feelings change in a relationship

For women, the level of love reaches its maximum during the engagement period - it is twice as high as for men at the same time. However, in the first two years of marriage, women experience a sharp decline in the level of feelings, after which it stabilises.

For men, feelings remain more even: the initial peak is not as high, but the decline in the level of love in marriage is slower.

Context.

The study was published in the journal Biology of Sex Differences. Scientists emphasise that emotional differences between the sexes have an evolutionary basis and affect the dynamics of relationships in modern society.
