Critical infrastructure to get its own air defence teams - government decision
Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Sviridenko announced that critical infrastructure enterprises will be able to create their own air defence teams.
According to her, the new mechanism is designed to strengthen the protection of energy, industry and other strategic facilities amid Russia's constant air attacks.
How it will work
The government has clarified the key parameters of the new model:
- The personnel of the enterprises will undergo special training and certification in institutions designated by the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.
- The Air Force Command will be able to temporarily transfer air defence equipment and ammunition to enterprises on a facility-by-facility basis.
- In the case of ammunition, their replenishment will be carried out under a simplified procedure.
- All decisions will be made under the control of the military command and within the framework of the unified air defence system of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Context.
Ukraine is systematically strengthening the protection of critical infrastructure amid regular missile and drone attacks. Earlier, the authorities have already expanded the capabilities of mobile fire teams and local air defence systems.
Experts believe that the involvement of enterprise resources can increase the density of air cover, especially for energy and industrial facilities, which are often targeted by Russian strikes.
