Zelensky announces enemy's plans for 2026-2027
Russian troops are considering an offensive in the direction of Odesa and are planning to intensify hostilities in Dnipro and Zaporizhzhia regions in 2026-2027. This was stated by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, commenting on Ukrainian intelligence assessments of the Kremlin's intentions.
Details of the case
According to the head of state, the Russian command is analysing potential scenarios for expanding offensive operations in the south. Possible targets include pressure towards Odesa, as well as attempts to advance in the Dnipro and Zaporizhzhia regions.
The President stressed that such plans of the enemy are designed for the medium term - 2026-2027 - and require appropriate preparation by Ukraine and partners.
Ukraine's response
Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed that the Ukrainian defence forces take these risks into account in their strategic planning. According to him, Ukraine is working to enhance its defence capabilities, strengthen air defence and develop arms production.
The Head of State also stressed the importance of continuing international support, which remains a key factor in deterring Russian aggression.
Context.
Russia has repeatedly tried to expand the combat zone in southern Ukraine, but the Ukrainian Armed Forces have been holding back the occupiers' offensive. The Odesa direction is traditionally seen as strategic because of its access to the Black Sea and the region's logistical importance.
The Ukrainian government is calling on its partners to speed up military assistance to prevent the Kremlin's plans from materialising in the coming years.
