Yesterday, Russian troops launched 40 drones «Lancet» towards Kyiv. According to the Ministry of Defence, it was an information attack. Only a few drones flew to the capital and did not cause any damage.
Modified drones without warheads
Russia used short-range Lancet drones (up to 80 km). For the attack on Kyiv, they were modified by removing the warheads and installing additional batteries.
As a result, the drones have lost their striking effectiveness. The main goal of the launch is to create an information impact.
Attack results
The flight path of the drones stretched from Chernihiv to Kyiv. Ukrainian agencies effectively worked out a countermeasure.
Only a few of them reached Kyiv, causing no damage. No casualties or damage were reported.
Context.
An adviser to the Minister of Defence said the attack was of an informational nature. The aim was to create panic and sow distrust in the air defence system.
Lancet drones are usually used to engage targets at closer distances. This time, their use was atypical.
