On the night of 24 March, Russia launched a massive attack on Ukraine's energy and housing infrastructure. Zaporizhzhia, Poltava, Shostka, as well as the western and southern regions of the country, were shelled.
Consequences of the attacks in Zaporizhzhia and Poltava
In Zaporizhzhia, the attack resulted in a fire in a high-rise building, cars caught fire and a residential building was damaged. One person was killed and five others were injured.
Residential buildings and a hotel were damaged in Poltava. The strike killed two people and injured 11 others.
Shelling in Sumy region, west and south of the country
Serious explosions have been reported in Shostka, Sumy region. Information on the extent of damage and casualties is being updated.
Some of the cruise missiles were heading towards Ternopil, Vinnytsia and Ivano-Frankivsk regions. Explosions were heard in these regions.
Explosions were also heard in Odesa and Kharkiv regions during the night attack. Initially, there were no serious consequences in these regions.
Context.
The enemy has once again targeted Ukraine's energy infrastructure. Russia's massive attacks on critical infrastructure have been ongoing since the beginning of the full-scale invasion.
