
Who are military police officers and their duties
Ukraine is preparing to create military police, which will receive the status of a separate law enforcement agency within the Ministry of Defence.
According to the draft law, military police will be eligible:
check the documents of citizens and military personnel;
detain violators;
conduct inspections of belongings and vehicles;
seize material evidence;
Ensure order at checkpoints and military facilities.
Equipment and powers
To perform their duties, military police officers will receive special means - batons, handcuffs, pepper spray, and firearms.
Their task is to Ensuring military discipline, law and order and security on the territory of military units and combat zones.
Military police units will also participate in investigation of war crimes, The company's main focus is on the protection of strategic facilities and escorting military convoys.
Control and subordination
According to the document, the military police will be subordinated to To the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine and will work closely with The National Police, the Security Service of Ukraine and the Military Law Enforcement Service.
