US Treasury lifts sanctions against companies that supplied equipment to Russia

The US Treasury Department has removed from the sanctions list several foreign companies that had previously supplied equipment used in the Russian military-industrial complex to Russia.

US Treasury removes a number of companies from the sanctions list for supplying equipment to Russia

According to an update from the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), the following Cypriot company has been removed from the sanctions list Veles International Limited, which is a subsidiary of an investment company with Moscow roots.

Sanctions restrictions were also lifted:

  • 365 Days Freight Services FZCO (United Arab Emirates, Dubai);

  • Etasis Hi-Tech Koneisto (Turkey);

  • Hi-Tech Koneisto (Finland).

Context.

Previously, these companies exported equipment to Russia that, according to the US side, could be used in the military-industrial complex of the russian federation and other sensitive sectors of the economy.

Reasons for the decision to lift the sanctions are not officially disclosed. The OFAC notice does not specify whether this is due to the termination of the companies' cooperation with Russian counterparties or other conditions imposed by the US authorities.
