NATO is preparing a new phase of military support for Ukraine

US Secretary of Defence Pete Hegseth said. Ukraine to receive “firepower” from NATO. He said this during a meeting of NATO Defence Ministers in Brussels, where further support for Kyiv was discussed.

Hegseth emphasised that “peace is achieved only when there are weapons that are respected by the enemy”, stressing the need to maintain defensive pressure on Russia.

European allies to join PURL initiative

According to the Pentagon chief, European states will increase purchases of American weapons, which will be transferred to Ukraine as part of the NATO's new PURL (Purchase, Unite, Replenish, Lend) initiative.

This programme includes Joint funding for the procurement of ammunition, air defence and long-range strike systems.
The goal is to strengthen the combat capability of the Ukrainian army ahead of the winter period and repel new Russian attacks.

US stresses that assistance to Ukraine is an investment in European security

Hegseth emphasised that Pentagon coordinates allied efforts, to guarantee the continuity of military assistance to Kyiv.
He also called on NATO to speed up the supply of weapons and support Ukrainian defence programmes at the strategic level.

Ukraine must get everything it needs to win. This is not just Ukraine's war - it is a test for the entire free world”, - said Hegseth.
