Customs officers seize 14,000 stamps with Nazi symbols on the border with Poland
At one of the checkpoints on the Polish-Ukrainian border, customs officers found More than 14 thousand postage stamps with Nazi symbols.
According to preliminary data, they tried to import them into Ukraine without proper declaration. The seized items include stamps with the image of Adolf Hitler, eagles, swastikas and other symbols of the Third Reich.
How the operation went
The contraband was found during the inspection of the parcel, which, according to the documents, was supposed to contain “collectible materials”. The suspicious envelopes were seized by the officers of the Customs Service of Ukraine together with the division fighting smuggling.
The published photos show dozens of packed envelopes with stamps of different denominations and periods.
Further actions
Law enforcement officers are establishing the circumstances of the case, the origin of the collection and the circle of people involved, involved in the transport. Experts must determine the cultural and historical value of the seized items.
If smuggling intent is proven, the owners may face criminal liability for the illegal transfer of historical heritage items across the state border.
