The Netherlands to provide €25 million to support Ukraine's energy sector
During his visit to Kyiv, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands David van Wiel announced that his country would provide €25 million to support the Ukrainian energy system. This was reported by the Channel 24.
Money for a stable winter
The financial assistance will be used to purchase of equipment, emergency repairs and gas purchases.
According to the minister, the purpose of the package is to to support Ukraine's energy sustainability ahead of winter and help the country cope with the consequences of Russian attacks on infrastructure.
«The Netherlands remains committed to supporting Ukraine - both on the battlefield and in the energy sector,» said David van Wiel in Kyiv.
Participation in the establishment of the Special Tribunal
In addition to financial assistance, the Netherlands has confirmed its participation in Establishment of a Special Tribunal for the crime of Russian aggression against Ukraine.
The Hague is already a venue for the International Criminal Court, and the Dutch authorities have emphasised their readiness to Provide legal and institutional support in the formation of a new justice mechanism.
Symbolic support at a critical time
The new aid package includes long-term cooperation between Kyiv and The Hague in the energy and legal sectors.
The Netherlands remains among Ukraine's most active European partners in energy security and holding russia to account.
