Schedules of power outages will be in force until the end of the heating season - MP Nagornyak

Member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Energy, Housing and Utilities Sergey Nagornyak said. power outage schedules will be in effect until the end of the heating season, i.e. by the end of March 2026.

According to him, the situation in the power system remains difficult, and it is impossible to quickly restore the destroyed facilities after massive Russian attacks.

Why the situation remains critical

Nagornyak stressed that the strikes on the energy infrastructure destroyed a significant part of of generating capacities. Because of this, power engineers are forced to use outage schedules, to maintain the stability of the system.

«Today, the main thing is to get through the winter without major accidents. Repair crews are working around the clock, but it will take months to restore TPPs and substations,» the MP said.

Stabilisation prospects

According to energy experts, after March 2026, we can expect a gradual improvement in the situation, provided that the shelling of energy facilities does not resume.

The state continues to invest in development of backup generation, energy saving programmes and load distribution, to minimise outages during peak hours.
