Germany cuts aid to Ukrainian men aged 18-22 due to sharp rise in refugees

The situation worsened after the Ukrainian government allowed this age group to travel abroad.

In October, Germany registered the same number of new Ukrainian refugees, how much for the previous two years in total - This is confirmed by official data from the capital.

Germany's response

Germany has already started cut aid for this group of men, considering the situation disproportionate and socially unjust.

Chancellor Friedrich Merz personally addressed the Vladimir Zelensky with a call «to resolve the situation» and said that men «should go back to defend their country».

In Germany, there is also growing public dissatisfaction with the large payments to Ukrainians, especially to able-bodied men who left after the permit.
