GRU agent detained in Odesa, who corrected enemy strikes under the guise of walking dogs
The Security Service of Ukraine detained a 52-year-old woman in Odesa who was acting as an agent of the Russian GRU. According to the agency, she corrected enemy attacks under the guise of walking other people's dogs.
Details of the case
The SBU reports that the suspect performed intelligence tasks for Russian supervisors:
She went around the city and marked the facilities of Ukrainian units on Google Maps.
For camouflage walked other people's dogs, She changed her clothes and behaviour to avoid attracting attention.
She transmitted the data to her curator via a messenger. She was detained red-handed near a secure facility.
Messages were found on the phone where the woman justified Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
The agent was served a notice of suspicion under three articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:
High treason in wartime
Justifying Russia's aggression
Violation of the equality of citizens
The suspect is currently in in custody without the right to post bail. The maximum punishment she faces is life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

Intelligence and counterintelligence is one of the key areas of countering the enemy in times of war. The SBU regularly exposes people who collect and transmit information to adjust shelling, prepare sabotage or other military operations of the Russian Federation.
Experts emphasise that disguising themselves as civilians is a typical method of intelligence services, which can include walking animals, playing sports or other daily activities that reduce suspicion.
