Operation Pipe has failed: Ukrainian Armed Forces defeat Russian troops who tried to enter the rear in Sumy region

Ukrainian troops thwart enemy's attempt to conduct the operation codenamed «Pipe», during which Russian troops tried to break through to the rear of Ukrainian positions.

According to Russian military officers, the attack was a complete failure -

“Half of the personnel were eliminated immediately after the attempted attack, the rest were killed in the ensuing battle.”.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces knew in advance about the enemy's plans and organised an ambush, using drones and artillery to repel the attack.

Details of the battle

For preliminary information, the Russian group operated in units of approximately 50 people, trying to reach the positions of Ukrainian forces through a forest belt near the border.
Ukrainian defenders detected enemy movement with the help of UAV reconnaissance, and then carried out precision strikes.

«The defence forces are in full control of the situation. The enemy's operation ended in disaster,» said one of the Ukrainian sources in the sector.

Context.

Russians in recent weeks attempts at local breakthroughs on the Sumy and Kharkiv directions intensified, in an attempt to create a “buffer zone” along the border.
The Ukrainian military reports that all attacks are repelled, and the enemy's losses were significant.
