Orban goes to Washington

Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orban will visit the following week Washington, to hold talks with the US president Donald Trump regarding new sanctions against Russian oil companies. This is reported by the Reuters with reference to diplomatic sources.


Sanctions will come into effect at the end of November

A new package of restrictions adopted by the Trump administration, aims to weaken the Kremlin's financial base, The country's economy is driven by oil exports, among other things. However, Hungary, which remains one of the main buyers of Russian oil in the European Union, is looking for ways to maintain supplies even after the sanctions come into effect.

According to the agency's sources, Orban is trying to «Find a diplomatic compromise» to preserve energy contracts and prevent fuel shortages in the country.
