Ukraine is in talks with the US to purchase additional Patriot systems

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine, together with its partners, is working on purchase of additional Patriot air defence systems.
He said this in his address against the backdrop of of a massive Russian missile and drone attack on the Ukrainian energy infrastructure.

«We are working with partners from the United States to buy additional Patriot systems,» Zelenskyy said.

President calls the latest shelling «a very brazen and demonstrative blow», which was intended to intimidate Ukrainians and damage critical infrastructure.

«Only a few systems in the world are capable of effectively shooting down such missiles. To cover the entire territory of Ukraine, we need much more air defence systems,» he stressed.

Zelensky thanked all partners who help strengthen Ukraine's air defence and noted that expansion of Patriot and other modern complexes - is the key to the security of energy, industry and the peaceful life of Ukrainians.
