Hungary joins the US-initiated «Peace Council»
Hungary has officially joined the newly created US «Peace Council». This was announced by Prime Minister Viktor Orban, The President of the European Parliament, emphasising that Budapest will become one of the founders of the new international format.
According to the head of the Hungarian government, the US initiative is aimed at implementing a comprehensive peace plan and creating a platform for political and diplomatic decisions at the global level.
What is known about the Peace Council«
The new body was initiated by the United States as an international platform for coordinating the actions of partner states in the framework of peace initiatives. It is expected that both European countries and US allies from other regions will join the Peace Council.
The format includes:
Participation of the founding states in the development of peace proposals;
political and diplomatic coordination;
consultations on security and humanitarian issues.
Hungary's position
Hungary has traditionally positioned itself as a supporter of negotiated solutions to international conflicts. Participation in the Peace Council is in line with Budapest's policy of playing an active role in diplomatic processes and strengthening its influence in the transatlantic dialogue.
