What Zelensky said
The President stressed that Moscow had violated the agreements it had agreed to with the participation of the United States.
«We are waiting for the US response to the Russian strikes. It was America's proposal to stop striking the energy sector for the time of diplomacy and such cold winter weather. There was a personal request from Donald Trump» Zelensky said.
Context.
The statement came against the backdrop of Russia's massive strikes on thermal and energy generation facilities that provide heating to large cities during severe frosts. The Ukrainian government views these attacks as deliberate disruption of diplomatic initiatives and an attempt at humanitarian pressure.
The President's Office has repeatedly emphasised that further diplomacy with Russia is possible only if real compliance with the agreements, not declarations.
